Ruach Activities

You are reading about the Ruach Program, which was created several years ago to facilitate parent involvement on the School. Ruach means "spirit" in Hebrew, and this Program hopes to create this feeling as parents work together to enrich the lives of the children in the School. In addition, parents set an example for their kids of doing good deeds - values that are emphasized in our school.

Here is how the Ruach Program works:

  1. As mandated by the Board of Directors, each family will perform (at least) 25 hours of school community service per year or may elect instead to pay $250.00 ($10.00 per hour) at the end of the school year (or a portino thereof for unworked hours).
  2. At left (Ruach Activities List) you will find a detailed description of most of the activities in our School. You should indicate the way in which you wish to help on the Return Form, which should be returned to the school Office by the first day of school. Please note that classroom set-ups take place several days before the beginning of school. If you are interested in helping out, please call the Office at 424-8482.
  3. During the first months of school, chair people in charge of each area of support will receive a list of families that have signed up to help them. However, it is ultimately your responsibility to arrange your work. Look for the names of char people in the first issues of the Friday Newsletter.
  4. An "Hours Worked at Ruach" form will be included in the Friday Newsletter and is also available in the blue bar at left. Please fill out this form and submit it so that the office can keep track of your hours. Hours will not be disputed. Some families complete their hours early in the school year - please submit a completed form just one time so that we know you are done for the year.
  5. Do not wait until the last quarter of the school year to complete all your hours, since there may not be anything left to do.
